Breast enlargement procedure is performed under general anaesthesia as a day case procedure. 

A scar is designed to be discreet under the breast fold and an implant is inserted either under or over the chest wall muscle. Size and implant position will be discussed and decided on during the consultation with our surgical team. 

We take every precaution to minimise risks of this procedure and most patients have excellent recovery. Potential general risks include bleeding and infection which may require antibiotics and scar healing problems. Implant related risks include capsule formation which a natural scar around the implant, that may become firm and uncomfortable. Infection around the implant is uncommon and will necessitate implant removal. 

Rare complications include Breast Implant associated anapaestic large cell lymphoma, which is a rare form of lymphoma that is not clearly understood. We use a type of breast implants that have not had any reported lymphoma cases. 

Breast enlargement procedure aims to increase volume and contour of the breast but does not address sagging breast tissue.  

In some cases, breast uplift may be required in addition to breast implants to achieve a youthful balanced breast. 

Breast Augmentation Recovery & Aftercare

• Breast enlargement surgery is done as a day case with no overnight hospital stay. Significant difference is seen immediately after surgery.

• Patients are reviewed in dressings clinic at 1 week to check healing and a sports bra is worn for 6 weeks.

• Most patients recover well and can resume normal activities after 1 week, apart from sport activities which can be resumed at 6 weeks.
